She won the Silver Prize at the 1st National University Student Art Festival sponsored by the Ministry of Culture and Public Information of Korea in 1970. She subsequently participated in several national invitational group exhibitions. In 1973 she was commissioned to execute murals for the University hospital in Seoul. The following year she gave a solo exhibition at the Gothe Institute in Seoul, Korea.
Jung Ran Shin came to Atlanta a few months ago with her husband and is currently working in her studio here. Of her work, she states, "The most beautiful thing in the world is the world itself. I like to travel, to see nature or man-made nature. There I meet the acme of creation. The form of the landscape sometimes tells me an image and illusion of certain forms and mass of color. I want to passionately transfer the image into a more beautiful abstract plane in a personal way. I mingle colors sometimes, dreamy and sometimes violently, into a swirling and coherent mass. It becomes a map of nature. The colorful map can be seen in the 'vacuum space' and it sounds like a great symphony. The color and sound are playing together. At that moment I encounter the reality of the creation of God or the nature in me."
