Wandering Between the Two

fjrigjwwe9r3TB_note:content
I am searching for a harmonious balance which I believe, has existed since God created the universe. I feel that I want to do my part in keeping such a balance alive because I, too, live in this world.

I want to remain alert at all times, both mentally and spiritually, in order to continue my search for a synthesis between reality and the ideal. I am working to attain this synthesis in my paintings, which, I hope, will evoke in the viewer the harmonious response symbolized by the Ying and Yang.

I value a child's innocence and intuition; they are essential to anyone who wishes to be open to astonishment.
I love to listen to Bach and Beethoven when I paint.
From Matisse I have received the joy of life. From Van Gogh, passion. I value what I have learned from Helen Frankenthaler and Mark Rothko. Anselm Kiefer from my own generation has taught me much about the devotion contained in inner world of a humble human being.

Bright sunbeams and pouring rain, swaying trees and grasses make me feel wistful. Raging waves and reflecting blue ocean bring me joy. Tiny spring buds pushing their way up through the heavy soil give me hope.
Life is full of joyous beauty and mournful sadness - I keep wandering between the two.
